Lorne Watson was born and raised in Lansing Michigan. He began his study of percussion at the age of 12. Six years later he continued his studies with Robert Hohner at Central Michigan University. During that time he was a member of The Robert Hohner Percussion Ensemble. The ensemble was recorded often on the DMP label and toured North America extensively. Lorne graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education and Percussion Performance.


Currently Lorne resides in Seattle, Washington where in performs regularly with various musical acts throughout the North West. He has been a staff member of The Seattle Drum School since 2000 where he blends his classical training with his passion for folkloric and tradition genres. He has work with students of all ages through organizations such as, Art Corp, Art Reach, and as a featured artist at the EMP museum.



Throughout his career Lorne has had the pleasure of performing all genres of music. From performing with big bands as a drum set, vibraphone and percussionist, to being a principal percussionist in several symphonies and wind ensembles. He has experience with salsa bands playing bongo and conga and intimate settings with jazz combos. Lorne also has traveled the Midwest circuit with rock and pop bands earning lots of valuable experience. With this wide variety of experience Lorne has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with percussion greats such as David Freidman, Alex Acuna and Joe Morello.


These concepts are also applied to the numerous performing acts he has played with in Seattle including The Harmonica Pocket, a duo with organist Alex Varney and occasional other gigs. Chris and Lorne have performed together in The Suns of Oblivion Blues Band, with the DMW trio, as well as in support of John Sinclair as The Seattle Blues Scholars.
