Forrest
Giberson grew up outside of Seattle and began playing
bass at an early age. Forest furthered his studies
at the University of Miami where he received a bachelor
of music degree in Studio Music and Jazz with specialization
in performance, music theory, music history and composition.
While in school Forrest played in a number of jazz
combos and local rock bands in and around the Florida
area.
After relocating back in the Seattle area Forrest
has lent his outstanding talents to a number
of genre crossing musical projects. As a member
of Spirit Tuck, with local musicians John Wicks
and Michael Stegner Forrest was part of the burgeoning "nu jazz movement" . This group was described as “a
trio of all-star players who pump out the sound of drum 'n' bass-style rhythms,
hiphop/raregroove-style electric bass, with the magical sound of classically
jazzy Rhodes and synth," by Victortrey, manager and booker at the Chai
House, where the band held down a Tueseday night regular gig for over a year,
playing to standing room only crowds.

Forrest
has also been featured as bassist on a number
of Jazz recordings including works by his
brother Clay Giberson and the The Jongleurs.
While with the Jongleurs Forrest had the
opportunity to embark on several East Coast
tours. In addition to his own ensembles,
Forrest has performed and/ or recorded in
groups with Ira Sullivan, Barry Rice, Gerry
Mulligan, Joe Henderson, and Dan Balmer.
He has also performed in groups under the
direction of Maria Schneider, Chico O' Farril,
and Eric Kunzel. Forrest has also recorded
with local guitar player Jason Seed. Forest’s
diverse background gives the Stone Crazy
Blues a very solid foundation, and serves
as a great springboard for the band. |
